2021- that’s a wrap, bring on 2022!

2021 was a challenging year for everyone across New Zealand and the world! It was also a milestone year for us having brought the Coerver® Coaching methodology back into New Zealand for the first time since 2018. I wanted to give you some insight into our story, and what we are planning for 2022.

At the start of 2021 my wife and I completed the acquisition of the master franchise of Coerver® Coaching New Zealand and I travelled to Canberra in March to complete training and induction to become part of the global Coerver® family. I had a great time in Canberra and learnt so much from the Asia Pacific team about the wonderful system we have, and this really solidified my excitement in providing quality training opportunities to young players.

After I returned home (via 2 weeks of MIQ in Rotorua!) I took time to establish relationships within the Auckland region, recruited two great coaches, and importantly we practised the moves and lessons we would be teaching. In June, the Coerver® Coaching Tāmaki franchise started operating and with support from Riverside Sports Club, Fencibles United and Ōtāhuhu United AFC we ran First Skills and Creative Player Programmes. It was great to finally be able to operate the sessions we had been planning for so long and to meet some keen young players with a passion for improving their football skills.

In July, we launched our first Holiday Camps, and had a great turnout at both St Heliers and Pakuranga – these were 2 full days from 9am-3pm and our participants learned skills & moves, met new friends, and had lots of fun throughout the days which culminated in a mini tournament. We then moved back into our after-school programmes which were able to run for a few weeks before the August Auckland lockdown.

It was disappointing to have finally got underway with some good momentum and then to stop our sessions for a few months - however we were able to take the opportunity to shape session plans & find new locations which will continue to serve us well in 2022 and beyond. In November, when the Step 2 change came into place, we were also able to offer one-on-one sessions within government guidelines - and these were a great way for us to provide some high-quality individualised sessions to our students who had been missing out on football during lockdown.

In December, when the new traffic light system came into place, we re-started group programmes in 5 different locations across Auckland - Hillsborough, Mangere, Glendowie, Point England and Pakuranga - and we will continue operating in these areas in 2022.

We have begun plans to operate our programmes in different parts of New Zealand including Christchurch, Marlborough, Tauranga and Northland and we are continuing to try and reach all areas of New Zealand with regional Franchise opportunities as well as Holiday Camps planned for later in the year.

We want to thank our customers for their support in 2021, and we look forward to sharing our programmes with many more customers in 2022. At the time of writing, we have confirmed our January Holiday Camps and are set to release our after-school Term 1 programmes in the near future.  To see the current list of available courses, please visit this page: https://coerver.co.nz/courses

We look forward to seeing you on the field soon!
