Coerver® Coaching Asia Pacific Performance Academy Camp 2023

Hi, the team at Coerver® Coaching New Zealand would like to update you on our experience at the recent Asia Pacific Performance Academy Camp held in January 2023.

Coerver® Coaching NZ and Tāmaki Director Shannon Thomas led a small but proud contingent from New Zealand across the ditch to Canberra to participate in this annual event. Senior Technical Instructor Max Terry and Coerver® Coaching Tāmaki players Jesse Jacobs and Ryker Tolich also attended the event, which was a roaring success. Across the 4 days, 267 players attended the camp and trained in our globally recognised curriculum focused on Ball Mastery Moves, 1 v 1 Game Moves and Small Sided Games. Each day sessions were split into morning and evening programmes - as in the middle of the day the heat in Canberra gets too hot to train, sometimes up to 40 degrees! For 3 hours each morning players learnt multiple new techniques within our drills delivered by expert coaches from around the region, helping them become more confident and creative players. Each evening players participated in the Coerver® World Cup - teams of 3 and 4 players competed against each other to find the best team in each age group. On the last day, our 1 v 1 Knockout and World Cup finals were held, and these players got to demonstrate their skills in front of 500 people - what a fantastic experience for these young players.

Our very own Ryker Tolich was awarded 'Player of the Programme' for his age group (U12/13 ). We are very proud of Ryker’s commitment to football and to his Coerver® sessions. The team in Australia made us feel very welcome - Jesse and Ryker both received a brand-new Manchester United kit whilst Shannon and Max were congratulated for their efforts and commitment in making the trip across. It’s an experience that we won’t forget in a hurry, and the coaches appreciated the learning experience working with other senior instructors (some who have been coaching the Coerver® method for over 15 years!) – we plan to impart this new knowledge into our sessions here in New Zealand.

We look forward to attending again next year – our goal is to bring over more coaches and players from New Zealand. If you have any questions about our experience or how you can attend next year, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
